Arts Forum Annual Report 2012-13

Inaugural function of Arts Forum for the academic year 2012-13 was organized on 9th August 2012. Mr. Sunil Sawara a famous poet, Hindi Movie Actor and Standup Comedian was invited as chief guest to inaugurate the Arts Forum. He informed the students about enormous opportunities available in the fields of Script Writing, Stand-up comedy and Acting. The inaugural function was the prelude to the lecture series on Career Guidance.


On 5th September 2012, Arts Forum celebrated Teacher’s Day. The program was organized in Conference Hall no. 1 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Third President of India. Principal Dr. Bhavna Motwani offered tribute to all the teachers for their contribution to the welfare of the society. students also expressed their gratitude towards the great social reformers of India like Mahatma Gandhi , Savitribai Phule etc


Arts Forum organized a Workshop on Career in Fashion Designing and Makeover on 12th September 2012. Resource person of the workshop was Ms. Rakshanda Sonawane, Director of ‘Rakshanda’s Institute of Fashion Technology’, who has been a faculty at Rachana Sansad Institute, Prabhadevi and also at the SNDT University, Mumbai. She informed students about various career opportunities available in the field of fashion designing. She provided detailed information on various specializations in the field like, Fashion Designer, Fashion coordinator, Fashion illustrator, Fashion Consultant, Sketches Assistants, Fashion Journalism, Fashion Photographer and Fashion Modeling. Ms. Rakshanda Sonawane demonstrated the Art of Warily Painting, Dry Brush Painting, Fabric Painting, Handwork, Easy Patch work, Shaded Floral Free Hand Work, Hand Embroidery, and Water Proof Material made Embroidery.


On 13th September Arts Forum organized a Workshop on Rangoli Making. Ms.Aarti Shembekar was the guest speaker of the workshop. She is attached to the organization named ‘Sanskar Bharti’ which is working for the promotion of the art of Rangoli in India and abroad. She informed the students that they can also learn and provide training to others about Sanskar Bharti Rangoli Making and spread the knowledge about India’s rich art and culture. Students were overwhelmed when they were given a chance to make Rangoli. Around 100 students participated in the workshop.


As a part of Human Rights Week celebrations, Arts Forum organized a Talk on 8th December 2012, by Dr. Manish Mishra about ‘Women Trafficking’ in India. The talk was organized to spread awareness about Women Trafficking, especially that of teenage girls in India and its deterrents.


A Poster Exhibition was also organized on ‘Human Rights Violations in India’ with special emphasis on Women’s Rights. Posters on varied topics related to women’s issues like Prostitution, Dowry and Child Labor were prepared and presented by the students.

Arts Forum celeberated Makar Sankranti on 14th January 2013 to inculcate values of Indian culture among students.


An Essay Writing Competition was organized on 28th January 2013 to improve essay writing skills of students.


To introduce and impart skills of Origami (The Japanese Art of Paper Folding) among the Students, Arts Forum organized a Workshop on 6th February 2013. Our own faculty Mr. Mandar Khasnis demonstrated the Art of Origami. Students learned and prepared different designs of paper. Students thoroughly enjoyed the workshop.


On 12th February2013, Arts Forum organized an Ex.Tempore Speech Competition to make the students overcome stage fear and develop public speaking skills.


Valedictory Function of the Arts Forum was organized on 13th February, 2013. Awards and Prizes were distributed to the student participants and volunteers of Arts Forum for the academic year 2012-13.
