About the Department
Head of the Department : Dr Pratima Das.
The 52-year old Department of English has been at the vanguard of academic, research, cultural and literary activities of the College since its inception. Today, it caters to a wide range of subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, is actively associated with the various administrative and outreach functions of the College and has been enhancing its research potential with the establishment of the Research Centre for PhD affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
The Department grew to its present height under the guidance of the two previous Heads of Department: Principal K. M. Talreja (HOD – 1965 to 1991), who was also the Principal of the College and author of a number of books on Philosophy and Indian Political Systems and Prof. R. S. Yadav (HOD – 1991 to 2002), who joined the College in 1967, and is a well known Satirist in Hindi Literature and Film and Music Critic. Dr. charanjeet kaur (HOD-2002 to 2013), Writer, Poet, Research guide, Currently Editor of MUSE INDIA JOURNAL.
